The Ottawa Statement is a consensus document that aims to guide the implementation of global trial registration. Endorsed by individuals and organisations throughout the international research community, the Statement recognises that public availability of information about all trials in healthcare is essential to ensuring ethical and scientific integrity in medical research. The Statement outlines the fundamental principles for trial registration (Part 1), operationalisation of the protocol registration (Part 2, in progress) and of results reporting (Part 3). Interested parties are invited to join the Ottawa group in endorsing the Statement and in contributing to international dialogue on the operationalisation of these principles (Parts 2 and 3). An invitation for open dialogue and endorsement of the Ottawa Statement Part 2 and 3 Following the Ottawa Statement Part 1, which outlined the principles of trial registration, the Ottawa Group developed the principles of implementation of trial registration and is proposing them as the Ottawa Statement Part 2. In October 2006, in Dublin, during Cochrane Colloquium, Ottawa Group members discussed the reporting of results and outlined the Ottawa Statement Part 3 in the form of slides. Karmela Krleza-Jeric, on behalf of the editorial group of the Ottawa Statement Part 2: K. Krleza-Jeric, A-W. Chan, K. Dickersin, J. Grimshaw, C. Gluud, and I. Sim. |
